This page explains who our search partners are, who they work for, how they are chosen, and what happens when we introduce you to a hiring company or recruiter.
You do, with one limited exception described below. JAY Search Partners is paid by the candidate, under a written service agreement, and represents the candidate. We do not accept referral, placement or success fees from employers, recruiters or other search firms, with one exception: in a limited number of searches JAY holds a formal written agreement with a hiring company, and in that special case the employer pays JAY under that agreement. We tell you before any such introduction is made. See PricingSample Resumes for what candidates pay.
A search partner is a member of JAY's own executive search team: a recruiter or search consultant who finds opportunities, assesses how well they fit you, and makes introductions on your behalf. Every search partner works for JAY Search Partners. You can meet them on our team page.
Before anyone joins our team as a search partner, JAY's leadership personally reviews their recruitment, executive search or industry experience. A partner's role does not mean they have access to every vacancy or represent every employer.
No. Our search partners are not outside firms or independent recruiters. They work for JAY, and retained search work is carried out by JAY directly. The hiring companies and recruiters we introduce you to are separate organizations, and their hiring processes and decisions are theirs alone.
No. Our search partners represent you. For some searches, JAY holds a formal agreement with a hiring company to fill a particular role. When that is the case for an opportunity we put to you, we tell you before the introduction. In that special case the employer pays JAY under the agreement, and you are told this up front. Every introduction still needs your approval first. Where we have no formal agreement and are simply introducing you to a contact, we say that too, and we never describe a prospective introduction as a partnership.
What follows depends on the employer or recruiter. They may review your information, ask for more details, invite you to an interview, decide you are not the right fit for that role, or not respond. We tell you what we learn. Hiring companies control their own decisions, interview schedules and offers, so we cannot guarantee a response, an interview, a shortlist or an offer. You are free to ask questions, decline an introduction, or stop at any time, subject to your service agreement.
Searches typically involve VP, director and C-suite roles in finance, technology, healthcare and manufacturing. For confidentiality, we do not name employers or past clients without permission.
